Rescuing Star- The Vet's Prognosis

***Star Update***
The vet gave Star a check up. He does have a stifle injury with severe swelling and some damage in his hip. She also found some melanoma cancer that is treatable. He has some scar tissue from an injury and other issues under his tail. We are working with that too. We started anti-inflammatory medications. Even with all the work ahead, the prognosis is a good one. I'll post another update in a week or so...

***Whiskey Update***

She also looked at Whiskey who had stopped eating 3 days earlier. He is my 31 year old Morgan. We believe it's an abscessed tooth and he is undergoing treatment now, he is nibbling his food this morning, so I think we have turned the corner. Thanks for all the good wishes, I know it helps.

We all appreciate your interest and the kindness you all have shown for our rescue animals.  Many thanks, from all of us at Cimarron.  www.quinnwildlifeart.com

Star's Fancy Footwork

Star's Fancy Footwork

Star had his feet trimmed and examined this morning. It was all good news, and so far, he will not need a special shoe for the foot he drags on the ground. If his toe wears too much, we may have to fit him with a corrective shoe in the future, but for now, he will be fine. The vet comes next week. Thank you so much for all you concern and support. We are much obliged.

Rescuing Star Update

Rescuing Star Update

Yesterday, I spent some time with Star, and we had our first training session in manners. He did very well, he is a quick learner and so far, has a " wants to please attitude". He did have trouble understanding how to back up, and not get into my personal space. He wants to be as close as possible. I start with short sessions (15-20 minutes) to avoid any frustration, and make training pleasant. The vet comes on Friday afternoon. More updates will be on the way. Thank you all for your good wishes and support. Star has a new life.

Rescuing Star

                                                          Rescuing Star

An opportunity presented itself, and we adopted an abused Arabian horse.  His name is Star, and he has and injured hip and drags his left hind leg.  The vet and the farrier are on the way, and I will be giving you updates on his progress.  I'm also planning a video of his story.  Here he is meeting Wilson.  Star is on the right side of the corral panel, he looks a lot like Wilson, and has a dear personality.

I'm very hopeful we can help him, even if I can't repair his leg, he will have a safe and happy home with us.

My Front Porch Friend

My front porch friend

This is the fellow who keeps eating my roses. When I sit on the porch near him he behaves, until I'm not looking, then he eats my flowers. I keep asking him to refrain from munching the blooms, but he is a cheeky guy!

The Great Greenhouse Tomato Takeover!

The Great Greenhouse Tomato Takeover!

I’m still taking advantage of every moment outside.  While I continue to struggle with the outdoor flowers, my plants in the greenhouse are thriving!  I have a tomato plant that is simply huge.  In this video, I will share why I think my green house was successful this year, plus a few facts you may be surprised to learn.

Our Labor Day- Labor of Love

Our Labor Day- Labor of Love

This front entry sign for our homestead is the result of our efforts this past Labor Day weekend. We designed, constructed and installed it. It was a labor of love and had been on our "to do" list for several years. I'm sure it will end up as a chapter in one of my books because we had some really funny experiences working on it. (It's heavier than it looks) 😉
In the past, my home was wherever life sent me, and that didn't change when I became a military wife and had a family. We lived in various houses and did our best to be happy. Now, for the first time, I have a home in the mountains of Montana. We call it Cimarron.
