Nancy Quinn: Celebrating Nature Through Art and Storytelling
Before
becoming an artist and author, Nancy worked as a conservation law enforcement
duty officer in Florida, where she interacted closely with wildlife
rehabilitation centers. During this time, she educated children about various
species, from local birds to exotic animals like leopards and tigers. These
formative experiences, coupled with her lifelong love for nature, laid the
foundation for her creative work, known for its authenticity and meticulous
attention to detail.
Nancy’s
artistic journey took a more defined shape when she and her family moved to
rural Montana, a transition that would inspire much of her later work.
Encouraged by those around her, she wrote her first book, Go West, Young
Woman!, a heartfelt memoir that humorously details her family’s adventures
in the American West. This book earned her the prestigious Will Rogers
Medallion Award for excellence in Western writing, solidifying her place in the
genre.
Today, Nancy lives with her family in the Montana mountains, where she continues to write and create art. Her most recent book, The Art of the Wild, shares her path to becoming a wildlife artist and recounts her experiences working in conservation law enforcement. The book delves into her encounters with exotic wildlife and her journey to capture the wild beauty of these creatures through art. The cover of the book features one of Nancy’s own paintings, further bridging the worlds of storytelling and visual art.
What
sets Nancy apart in both the art and literary worlds is her ability to merge
her personal experiences with her creative work. Her stories, many of which
reflect her adjustments to rural life, have struck a chord with readers who
feel a deeply personal connection to her journey. “The most rewarding aspect of
my career,” Nancy says, “is receiving letters from readers who share how my
work has touched their lives.”
Beyond her books and art, Nancy has expanded her offerings to include a series of journals featuring her wildlife artwork. These journals provide fans with a unique way to engage with her art while reflecting on their own thoughts and experiences.
Nancy’s work offers more than just entertainment; it provides a window into the wild spirit of the American West, seen through her eyes. Her journey—from conservation duty officer to bestselling author and celebrated artist—illustrates her dedication to preserving nature and sharing the beauty of rural life.
